Welcome to POSTO project
POSTO aims to supply the methodology and the software libraries required for the design and development of GALILEO/EGNOS-based mobile positioning applications, targeting SMEs who are seeking to develop positioning applications for smartphones by exploiting the full potential of the GALILEO/EGNOS benefits.
The main results of the POSTO project are identified as follows:
- A methodology and design guidelines for implementing EGNOS-based positioning applications in popular smartphone platforms including iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Android, Symbian.
- A set of EGNOS SW libraries supporting the development of EGNOS-based positioning applications for popular smartphone platforms including:
- Java-based SW libraries for BlackBerryand Android smartphone platforms.
- C++ based SW libraries for Windows Mobile and Symbian smartphone platforms.
- Investigate the possibility for providing ObjectiveC based SW libraries for the iPhone platform.
- Pre-configured EGNOS SW libraries for different operational environments including, urban, low-density urban, high-density urban, rural, etc. in order to achieve EGNOS best performances.
- The EGNOS-enabled positioning applications for smartphones.
The project started on 01/11/11, and its duration is 24 months. The POSTO project is co-funded by the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme managed by REA-Research Executive Agency (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement no 286536.
